The Flint Firebirds beat the Sarnia Sting 6-4 on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Dort Financial Center. Brady Smith scored twice for his first multi-goal game in the OHL, and Mason Courville made a season-high 34 saves. Flint improved to 5-2-0-0, and Sarnia fell to 5-3-1-0.
Scoring
Cooper Williams scored in the first minute on a one-timer set up by Darian Anderson and Jimmy Lombardi, and Luka Graziano made it 2-0 on the power play when his shot went in off a Sarnia defender. Easton Walos scored twice to tie it, but Smith put Flint back ahead before the first intermission, knocking in a power-play rebound of a Williams shot.
Xavier Tessier scored in the second period, from Ryland Cunningham and Nick Bogas, and Smith added his second on another rebound, assisted by Bryson Morgan, for a 5-2 lead. Sarnia pulled within one in the third on goals by Parker Holmes and Tyler Challenger, the second on the power play, and had another late goal waved off. Lombardi sealed it with an empty-net goal with 15 seconds left, with Anderson assisting.
Standouts
Five Firebirds had multi-point games. Anderson’s two assists extended his point streak to seven games, and Lombardi’s goal and assist stretched his to six. Both have recorded a point in every game they have played this season. Flint scored twice on the power play and once into an empty net.

The Firebirds visit the Guelph Storm on Friday, Oct. 16, at 7:07 p.m. at the Sleeman Centre.
