No. 2 Michigan beat Alaska Anchorage 7-2 on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Yost Ice Arena to finish a weekend sweep and improve to 4-0-0. Jayden Perron scored three goals and Michael Hage had four assists on Block Out Cancer Night. The Seawolves fell to 0-4-0.
Scoring
Perron opened the scoring at 7:22 of the first period, set up by Ben Robertson and Hage, and Drew Schock made it 2-0 at 8:44. Jalen Bianchet answered at 9:51 with his first career goal, but Cole McKinney restored the two-goal lead with a power-play goal at 18:45, assisted by Malcolm Spence and Cam Reid.
Spence scored at 5:21 of the second, and Perron added his second at 8:21 from Hage and Will Horcoff. After Cooper Anderson’s blue-line shot at 14:02 made it 5-2, Horcoff finished a feed from Hage and Perron at 17:26. Perron completed the hat trick on the power play 3:16 into the third, with Hage and Landon DuPont assisting.
Perron finished with three goals and an assist, and Horcoff had a goal and an assist. Hage assisted on four of Michigan’s seven goals, a night after he and Perron entered play tied for the national scoring lead.
In goal and by the numbers
Jack Ivankovic made 20 saves on 22 shots for his second win of the weekend. Joey Rocha stopped 41 of 48 for Anchorage. Michigan outshot the Seawolves 48-22, went 2-for-4 on the power play, killed both Anchorage chances, and won 38 of 55 faceoffs.
What’s next
Michigan visits No. 1 Denver on Oct. 16-17. Alaska Anchorage returns home to host Lake Superior State the same weekend.
