Eddie Genborg, the Red Wings’ second-round pick (44th overall) in the 2025 NHL Draft, scored a between-the-legs goal Saturday, Oct. 10, as Timrå IK beat Luleå HF 3-2 in overtime in the Swedish Hockey League. It was the 19-year-old winger’s second goal in two games and Timrå’s second straight win.
Genborg’s goal tied the game 1-1 in the second period, and Swedish outlets SVT and Hockeysverige both singled it out as a highlight-reel finish. Lucas Forssell put Timrå ahead 2-1 on a goal that was allowed after a brief dispute over whether the puck crossed the line, Luleå tied it, and Tim Barkemo won it in overtime.
The result was a needed one for Timrå, which picked up its first points of the season in its previous game and sits 12th in the SHL. Genborg broke out with the club last season, when The Hockey News noted in November that his seven goals and 13 points led all junior-age players in the SHL. Detroit Hockey Now also spoke with him this week about a difficult summer.
