The Toledo Walleye beat the Kalamazoo Wings 4-1 in a preseason game Saturday, Oct. 10, at Wings Event Center, a night after also beating Kalamazoo in exhibition play. Reilly Funk scored twice, and Scott Docherty, who signed with Toledo in August, had a goal and two assists. It was Kalamazoo’s final preseason game.

Scoring

Docherty opened the scoring 1:59 into the game, from Dylan Moulton and Andrew Stacey, and Funk made it 2-0 at 10:15 of the first with Jack Duff and Docherty assisting. Sean Chisholm, one of Kalamazoo’s loans from AHL Abbotsford, cut the lead in half at 18:20 of the second.

Funk restored the two-goal cushion at 8:29 of the third, set up by Docherty and Nick Nardecchia, and Stacey closed it out at 17:39, assisted by Kyle Gaffney and Nolan Hutcheson.

In goal and by the numbers

Jonathan Lemieux stopped 18 of 19 shots for Toledo. Kalamazoo split its net between Mitchell Weeks (21 saves on 23 shots) and Hunter Vorva (nine saves on 11). The Walleye outshot the Wings 34-19, including 11-2 in the third period.

Toledo continues its preparations for the 2026-27 ECHL regular season.
