Adam Levac, the Peterborough Petes center the Detroit Red Wings drafted in the fourth round (108th overall) of the 2026 NHL Draft, has received a four-game suspension from the Ontario Hockey League, Detroit Hockey Now reported Saturday. The ruling ends an indefinite suspension the league imposed while it reviewed the play.

The ban stems from the final minute of Peterborough’s 7-3 loss to the Sudbury Wolves on Oct. 9. After Sudbury scored late, Levac cross-checked a Wolves player from behind into the boards and was given a match penalty for a deliberate attempt to injure. Detroit Hockey Now noted that four games is lighter than some had speculated, given how the play was described in the days after the game.

The OHL had not posted the ruling on its website as of Saturday morning, and the Petes have not commented. Peterborough has played three games since the Oct. 9 loss, most recently a home win over the North Bay Battalion on Wednesday.

A second suspension in two seasons

This is the second significant suspension of Levac’s OHL career. Last season the league suspended him eight games for a slew-foot on an Ottawa 67’s player during a fight, a play its Department of Player Safety called intentional and dangerous.

The 18-year-old has eight points in eight games for Peterborough this season after scoring 15 goals and 44 points in 60 games in 2025-26. Detroit drafted him for a high-energy, physical style, and he remains one of the more productive forwards on a young Petes roster.

Mitten Hockey first reported the indefinite suspension on Oct. 15: Red Wings prospect Adam Levac suspended indefinitely by OHL after match penalty with Peterborough.
