Lake Superior State held off Lindenwood 4-3 on Friday, Oct. 9, at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri, as goalie Anders Miller made 49 saves on 52 shots. Calem Mangone scored twice and Charles Savoie had a goal and two assists, giving the Lakers their first win of the season and a 1-1-0 record. Lindenwood is 2-2-0.
Scoring
Mangone opened the scoring at 13:54 of the first period, from Savoie and Cooper Foster, and Savoie made it 2-0 at 17:27, with Raoul Boilard and Casper Nassen assisting. It was Savoie’s third goal in two games.
Tyler Loughman got Lindenwood within a goal at 3:54 of the second. Nassen restored the two-goal lead on the power play at 11:28, from Foster and Hunter Ramos, and Mangone scored again at 17:41, from Savoie and Foster, for a 4-1 lead. Chase LaPinta scored with four seconds left in the second, and Adam Raesler cut it to 4-3 at 8:14 of the third. The Lakers did not allow another goal, even with Lindenwood’s net empty for the final 1:06.
Goalies and numbers
Lindenwood outshot Lake Superior State 52-23, including 22-7 in the third period. Klayton Knapp made 19 saves for the Lions. The Lakers went 1-for-3 on the power play and killed all four Lindenwood chances. Foster finished with three assists. Attendance was 754.
