No. 2 Michigan swept Alaska Anchorage at Yost Ice Arena, winning 10-1 on Friday, Oct. 9, and 7-2 on Saturday, Oct. 10. The Wolverines are 4-0-0 after back-to-back weekend sweeps of Bowling Green and Anchorage, and they outscored the Seawolves 17-3 while outshooting them 95-44.
Friday’s scoring came from everywhere: eight different players scored, freshman Jack Nesbitt had his first two college goals, and Cole McKinney and Nick Moldenhauer had career-high four-point nights. Saturday belonged to the top of the lineup. Jayden Perron scored three goals, Michael Hage assisted on four, and Will Horcoff had a goal and an assist.
Over the weekend, Perron had four goals and an assist, Hage had five assists, McKinney had three goals and two assists, and Moldenhauer had a goal and four assists. Jack Ivankovic started both games and allowed one goal each night, making 41 saves on 44 shots. Michigan scored three power-play goals and did not allow one.
The schedule gets much tougher next. Michigan visits No. 1 Denver on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16-17, then hosts Western Michigan on Oct. 23.
