The Toledo Walleye set their opening roster for the 2026-27 ECHL season on Thursday, two days before they open at the Fort Wayne Komets. The 27-player group has 17 forwards, eight defensemen, and two goaltenders, and it includes Chris Terry, a 19-year pro the Walleye signed on Wednesday.

A veteran scorer joins the lineup

Terry, a forward from Brampton, Ontario, comes to Toledo with one of the deepest scoring résumés in AHL history. He enters the season ninth on the league’s all-time points list with 828 (340 goals, 488 assists) in 939 games over 16 seasons. He led the AHL with 71 points for Laval in 2017-18, winning the John B. Sollenberger Trophy, and is a four-time AHL All-Star.

Carolina drafted Terry in the fifth round in 2007, and he played 152 NHL games with the Hurricanes and Canadiens, scoring 22 goals and 38 points. Michigan fans may remember him from four seasons with the OHL’s Plymouth Whalers, where he scored 289 points in 253 games and served as captain for two years. Last season he had 10 goals and 21 points in 56 games as an alternate captain with the Bridgeport Islanders. The Walleye did not release terms of the deal.
