The Flint Firebirds added a forward to their roster Thursday, signing free agent Anton Stackow to an Ontario Hockey League Standard Player Agreement.
Stackow, from Hockessin, Delaware, is no stranger to Flint. He took part in the Firebirds’ training camp in each of the last two years and earned a spot on the 2026 preseason roster, dressing for two exhibition games before the regular season began.
He developed in the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers AAA program before spending the past two seasons in prep hockey at Northwood School in Lake Placid, New York. Last season he put up 33 points, on 18 goals and 15 assists, in 53 games for Northwood. He opened this season with the Waterloo Siskins of the Greater Ontario Hockey League, playing three games there before Flint brought him in.
Mike Oliverio, the Firebirds’ assistant general manager and head scout, described Stackow as “a player with high-end hockey IQ” in the team’s announcement. Oliverio pointed to the forward’s ability to read plays, his aggressive forechecking, and his vision and speed as reasons for the signing.
Stackow called the contract the start of something bigger after years of work to reach the OHL.

The signing comes on the eve of Flint’s first three-games-in-three-days weekend of the season. The Firebirds open it Friday at 7:05 p.m. at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw, where they meet the Spirit in the second game of the season series for the I-75 Divide Cup.
