The Grand Rapids Griffins and Cleveland Monsters finish a back-to-back at Van Andel Arena on Saturday night, with puck drop at 7 p.m. Cleveland took the first meeting 3-2 in a shootout on Friday, a game in which Griffins goaltender Trey Augustine made a career-high 36 saves.

The extra point still stretched the Griffins’ point streak to five games (4-0-0-1). Grand Rapids is 6-1-1-1 with 14 points, while Cleveland is 5-2-0-0.

Storylines

Augustine’s workload. The Red Wings goaltending prospect is 2-1-2 with a three-game point streak and was the main reason Friday reached a shootout, as Cleveland outshot Grand Rapids 39-23. With Michal Postava still up in Detroit, Carter Gylander, whom the Red Wings reassigned to Grand Rapids on Thursday, gives the Griffins another option in net.

Kiiskinen keeps scoring. Jesse Kiiskinen scored his sixth goal Friday and leads all AHL rookies in goals.

Dries is back. Sheldon Dries scored on the power play in his first game back after six games with Detroit and has points in three straight AHL games (4 goals, 1 assist). Defenseman Shai Buium also has a three-game point streak.

Special teams. Cleveland scored twice on the power play Friday, going 2-for-6, and Grand Rapids will want fewer trips to the penalty box. The Monsters’ Pheonix Copley made 21 saves in the opener.
