Bowling Green swept Lake Superior State in the Lakers’ CCHA opener and first weekend at the renovated Taffy Abel Arena, winning 6-2 on Friday and 4-2 on Saturday. The Falcons are 4-4-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the league.

Standouts

Casper Nässén was the Lakers’ most productive player on Saturday with a power-play goal and an assist on William Samuelsson’s third-period goal. For Bowling Green, goalie Jacob Steinman made 27 saves in the finale, and Ben Doran had a goal and an assist.

What changed

The Lakers were much closer on Saturday after a four-goal loss in the opener. They held Bowling Green to a season-low 20 shots, outshot the Falcons 29-20, and pulled within a goal in the third period before Doran’s empty-netter. A 2-0 Bowling Green lead early in the second period proved too much to overcome.
