The Grand Rapids Griffins reassigned forward Nolan Moyle to the Toledo Walleye on Monday, Oct. 26, sending the former University of Michigan captain back to Detroit’s ECHL affiliate after four games in the AHL this season.

Moyle, 27, went without a point in his four games for Grand Rapids, with five penalty minutes and a minus-one rating. He spent part of training camp shuttling between the two clubs: the Griffins recalled him and Tag Bertuzzi on Sept. 25, sent both to Toledo on Sept. 28, and brought them back on Sept. 30.

The move puts him back in a familiar spot. Moyle had 10 points (5-5—10) in nine games with the Walleye last season, along with 2 points in 16 games during his first AHL stint with Grand Rapids. Before that he played two seasons with Kunlun Red Star in the KHL and a short stretch with EC-KAC in Austria. Across his pro career he has 48 points (18-30—48) in 134 games.

A native of Pinehurst, North Carolina, Moyle played five seasons at Michigan from 2018 to 2023, finishing with 46 points in 164 games. He captained the Wolverines as a fifth-year senior in 2022-23 and won Big Ten titles in each of his final two seasons in Ann Arbor. He came to Michigan from the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers.

He joins a Toledo team that is 2-1-0-0 after road wins at Indy and Wheeling last weekend. The Walleye stay in Michigan to open this week’s schedule, visiting the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m., before a 3 p.m. game at Fort Wayne on Saturday, Oct. 31.
