The Red Wings (6-5-3) open a four-game, seven-day stretch Monday night against the Florida Panthers (8-4-2) at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Fla. Puck drop is 7 p.m. ET. It is the first meeting of the season between the Atlantic Division rivals.

Where things stand

Detroit arrives off a 5-4 home loss to St. Louis on Saturday, when the Blues scored three times in the final 11:23 to erase a 4-2 third-period lead. The Red Wings are still 5-2-3 in their last 10 games and 1-0-1 against Atlantic opponents. Alex DeBrincat leads the team with 15 points, Viktor Arvidsson leads with eight goals, and Lucas Raymond has five goals in his last six games. Emmitt Finnie, now centering the top line, has four points in his last five games.

Florida has won three straight and is 6-4-0 in its last 10. Anton Lundell had a hat trick in Friday’s 5-2 win over Winnipeg, the Panthers’ fifth hat trick of the season, one short of the franchise record. Matthew Tkachuk has 20 points (four goals, 16 assists), and Florida’s power play ranks ninth in the NHL at 24.2%.

Lineup and injuries

The Red Wings recalled forward John Leonard from Grand Rapids on Sunday. Dylan Larkin remains suspended without pay while the team works on a trade. Marco Kasper (upper body), Mason Appleton, and Albert Johansson are out.

Florida is without goalie Jacob Markstrom (upper body), captain Aleksander Barkov (lower body), Brad Marchand (leg), and Jonah Gadjovich.

In goal

Neither team had announced a starter as of Monday morning. John Gibson is 4-5-1 with a 3.37 goals-against average and .860 save percentage after allowing five goals on 15 shots Saturday. Todd McLellan defended him afterward, telling reporters, “You can’t put this on John,” according to The Associated Press. Daniil Tarasov is 1-0-2 with a 1.40 GAA and .940 save percentage. With Markstrom out, Akira Schmid (5-2-1, 2.86, .889) has carried the load for Florida and is 1-1-0 in his career against Detroit.
