The Grand Rapids Griffins recalled center Tag Bertuzzi from the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye on Thursday, giving the AHL leaders another forward ahead of a stretch of three games in four nights.

Bertuzzi, 25, had four assists and two penalty minutes in six games with Toledo after the Griffins reassigned him to the Red Wings’ ECHL affiliate on Oct. 16. He made his Grand Rapids debut on Oct. 10 at Milwaukee. The team did not give a reason for the move.

The Vancouver, British Columbia, native is in his sixth pro season and has spent most of it in the ECHL, where he has 134 points (66 goals, 68 assists) in 176 regular-season games since 2022-23. His best season came in 2022-23, with 52 points in 64 games. Last season he split time between the AHL’s Utica Comets, where he played 14 games, and the ECHL’s Adirondack Thunder, where he scored 31 points (16 goals, 15 assists) in 38 games. He has one assist in 31 career AHL games across stops with Charlotte, Hartford, Belleville, Utica, and Grand Rapids.

The recall is the latest in a busy week of goaltending and depth moves across the organization. Detroit recalled Michal Postava from Grand Rapids under emergency conditions on Wednesday and sent Carter Gylander back to the Griffins from Toledo the same day.

Grand Rapids (9-1-1-1) is coming off a 6-2 win over Texas in which Dominik Shine scored four goals. The Griffins host the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday at 7 p.m. and visit Rockford on Saturday.
