The Grand Rapids Griffins host the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday at 7 p.m. at Van Andel Arena, the second game of a stretch of three in four nights. The AHL-leading Griffins (9-1-1-1) have earned points in eight straight games, and Milwaukee (7-3-0-0) arrives as one of the Central Division’s better starts.
Grand Rapids is coming off a 6-2 win over Texas on Wednesday in which Dominik Shine scored four goals, the first four-goal game in Griffins history. Shine now has nine goals this season and 105 in his Grand Rapids career. Red Wings prospect Noah Dower Nilsson also scored on the power play, and the Griffins have scored at least one power-play goal in eight straight games.
The roster has shifted since then. Goaltender Michal Postava, the AHL’s Goaltender of the Month for October, was recalled by Detroit under emergency conditions on Wednesday, and Red Wings prospect Trey Augustine went the distance against Texas, making 24 saves. Carter Gylander was sent back to Grand Rapids from Toledo the same day. On Thursday, the Griffins recalled center Tag Bertuzzi from the Walleye; he made his Grand Rapids debut on Oct. 10 in Milwaukee.
Milwaukee won its most recent game, 4-1 at Cleveland on Oct. 31, after losing 5-2 there the night before. The Admirals are 4-1-0-0 at home and 3-2-0-0 on the road and have not played since that Cleveland series.
The Griffins finish the stretch Saturday at Rockford, with puck drop at 8 p.m. Eastern.
