No. 3 Michigan State is back at Munn Ice Arena on Friday for the first of two games against No. 13 Boston University, a ranked non-conference matchup that brings together 35 NHL draft picks. Puck drop is 7 p.m. at Ron Mason Rink in East Lansing, and the teams meet again Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

The Spartans (5-1-0) are third in both the USCHO.com and USA Hockey polls after beating then-No. 8 North Dakota 5-3 in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game in Austin, Texas, on Oct. 31. That win was the 100th of Adam Nightingale’s head coaching career. Boston University (6-2-0, 4-2-0 Hockey East) is 13th in both polls and arrives having already played six conference games. BU’s roster holds 18 NHL draft picks to Michigan State’s 17.

Sophomore forward Anthony Romani leads Michigan State with 10 points (seven goals, three assists) in six games, and his 1.17 goals per game rank second nationally. He scored twice in Austin and was named the Big Ten’s Second Star of the Week. Cayden Lindstrom already has two game-winning goals this season, and freshman defenseman Chase Reid has seven points (one goal, six assists).

In goal, freshman Joshua Ravensbergen carries a 1.62 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage into the weekend, both among the national leaders. Michigan State has not announced any injuries or named a starter for Friday. The Spartans have yet to play a Big Ten game this season.
